From the beginning, bringing new works into the light has been engrained into HGO’s history and our beacon into the future. As we work to advance every facet of the arts, we are constantly seeking new pieces to commission, develop, and produce in ways that serve as an active part of society and focus on the contemporary conversations that matter to our community.

The mission of HGO is to enrich our diverse community through the art of opera. We will do so by creating, curating, exploring, and producing outstanding experiences centered around the human voice.
Our Awards
Our greatest achievement day-in and day-out is the privilege of bringing world-class art to Houston. And through our relentless pursuit to provide to our community, we have had the honor of being the only opera house in the world to receive an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Tony.
